About us

A curtain workroom that started making the furniture people kept asking for.

Curtains first

Coedomatsumur Ltd was set up in 2024 as a small curtain workroom in north west London, sewing for interior designers and for people who had given up on ready made sizes. The name joins Koedo, the old nickname of the merchant town of Kawagoe, with our director Daniel Matsumura's family name. It stuck because it describes the kind of room we like: low, calm, and easy to live in.

The workroom still takes up the whole first floor. Two cutting tables, three industrial machines and a steam press, and the curtains for the shop are made there alongside everyone else's orders.

Then the furniture

Customers kept asking where to find a low table that did not look flat packed, so in 2025 we drew one and asked a joiner we trusted to build six in oak. They sold before the second batch was glued up. The oak and ash pieces are now made in runs of six to twenty by two small workshops in England, then finished and checked here before they go out.

Lighting and stoneware followed, because a table looks unfinished without a lamp over it and a bowl on it.

A showroom you can sit in

In 2026 we took the ground floor under the workroom and turned it into a showroom, with the curtains hung at real windows and the furniture set out as it would be at home. The online shop opened the same year, with the same prices as in the showroom and nothing marked up for the website.

What we hold ourselves to

01

Solid wood where it matters

Tops, legs and frames are solid oak or ash. Where we use ply, for a sideboard back or a drawer bottom, the product page says so.

02

Prices with VAT, always

The price on the card is what you pay for the item, and delivery is shown before payment. We do not run sales against made up original prices.

03

Things that can be fixed

Oiled wood can be sanded and oiled again, paper shades can be re-covered, and if a joint we made fails inside five years, we repair it.

04

Straight answers

If a piece is sold out, the card says so. If a delivery is going to be late, we ring you before the day, not after it.
